First FOSSASIA in Cambodia

FOSSASIA 2014 is an exciting Open Technology event for developers, students, and start ups using open source to build up their businesses. It is a unique opportunity to share the latest innovations in open source technologies and meet contributors and potential partners. FOSSASIA 2014 will take place for the first time in Cambodia. It will be held at Norton University in Phnom Penh from February 28 - March 2. FOSSASIA 2014 will focus on the use of open technologies in sustainable development in order to improve the lives and conditions of those living in poverty.
Since the first FOSSASIA meetup in 2009 in Ho Chi Minh City, FOSSASIA has taken the lead to organize Free and Open Source Software conferences in Vietnam. Past FOSSASIA events have attracted over 1400 participants and speakers from 24 countries, with more than 100 volunteers. More than half of all participants were women.

FOSSASIA Activities

FOSSASIA works together with Open Source projects in Asia and around the world and develops Free and Open Source software for social change.
We bring developers, designers and start ups together, provide infrastructure and organize code sprints, developer meet ups and community gatherings.
Previous events with links to FOSSASIA were the Mini-Debconf VietnamLGMGNOME.AsiaHackerspace Meetings in Singapore, LUG meetups in Vietnam, TYPO3 events in Phnom Penh, OpenDesign.Asia Weeks, the FOSSASIA conference series and many others.
FOSSASIA also participates in the Google Summer of Code program as an umbrella organization for projects and developers in Asia and supports exchanges of developers with Asian contributors.

A Very First Fedora Event in Cambodia

Our first event in Cambodia

Thank you for visiting our booth at DevInnoExpo yesterday. We were so excited to introduce you to Fedora Project. Fedora Project was first introduced to Cambodia in the last three weeks at FOSSASIA 2014 Phnom Penh at Open Institute and sponsored by the Development Innovations.

Chief of Party, Greata House was introducing Fedora Project and its history in Cambodia to Minister of Ministry of Education, Youths and Sport.

Our fans were holding I <3 Fedora tags and taking photos with smile.

What is Fedora Project?
Fedora is a Linux-based operating system, a collection of software that makes your computer run. You can use Fedora in addition to, or instead of, other operating systems such as Microsoft Windows™ or Mac OS X™. The Fedora operating system is completely free of cost for you to enjoy and share.
The Fedora Project is the name of a worldwide community of people who love, use, and build free software. We want to lead in the creation and spread of free code and content by working together as a community. Fedora is sponsored by Red Hat, the world's most trusted provider of open source technology. Red Hat invests in Fedora to encourage collaboration and incubate innovative new free software technologies.

Building Fedora Community

Since Fedora Project is the new project in Cambodia, and we would like to build a strong and big community to give support to our Fedora users and administrators. We are looking for people, who are currently using Fedora for their daily use, design project and web administrator and other related work to join our community.
